| news Death Penalty Focus The 11th Annual Death Penalty Focus Awards Dinner was held on April 18, 2002 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Peter was an Honorary Co-Chair along with Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, Marg Helgenberger, Jane Kaczmarek, Norman Lear, Alan Rosenberg, Martin Sheen and Bradley Whitford. Peter also attended the the 14th Annual DPF Awards Dinner that was held in April 2005. Death Penalty Focus is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the abolition of capital punishment. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Battle of the Batons MacNicol donned white tie and tails to be one of the celebrity guest conductors at the California Jr. Philharmonic's annual Battle of Batons on May 1, 2002. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Screen Actors Guild "Conversations" December 4, 2001 From the SAG site: "Peter MacNicol Wows members at L.A. "Conversations" "The Screen Actors Guild Foundation and Screen Actors Guild Special Projectsscored big time with membership in its new speaker series "Conversations." Over 130 members filled L.A. SAG's James Cagney Room to capacity December 4th with "Conversations" guest speaker and Emmy award winning actor Peter MacNicol. Peter MacNicol clearly enjoyed himself at the capacity filled event. He enthusiastically continued numerous conversations with many of the participants for over 45 minutes once the program ended." ______________________________________________________________________________________ USO Holiday Tour MacNicol joined the 2001 USO Holiday Tour, lead by Wayne Newton. The tour spent Thanksgiving week, November 12 -19, entertaining the troops stationed in Bosnia, Kosovo and other locations. Other performers on the tour included the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, Bo Derek, Kandace Krueger, Neal McCoy, Ruth Pointer, Rob Schneider, Shaggy and Jessica Simpson. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Emmy Awards 53rd Annual Emmy Awards, November 4, 2001: Peter MacNicol wins the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Ally McBeal!! ______________________________________________________________________________________ "The Ponder Heart" MacNicol starred as Uncle Daniel in "The Ponder Heart," the ExxonMobil Masterpiece Theatre film for their American Collection series. Based on the Eudora Welty novel, the film was shot on location in Mississippi and aired on PBS on October 15, 2001. JoBeth Williams, Brent Spiner, Boyce Holleman and Angela Bettis co-starred. Purchase a VHS copy at shop PBS. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Target Ad MacNicol and his former 10th grade teacher, Mrs. Rozek, appeared in a Target "Take Charge of Education" ad.
